Laboratory Technology Technician, Associate's Degree Diploma

Program Profile

This program was established to train qualified personnel in the chemical and/or biological processes sector, which is needed by various industrial organizations. Students who successfully graduate from this program are entitled to receive the title of "Laboratory Technician". This program prepares graduates to work in a variety of laboratory settings and teaches students to develop chemical and chemical products while working under the supervision of chemical engineers and chemists. Students enrolled in these programs develop solid chemical theory and learn how to apply that theory by completing laboratory projects.

Employment Profiles of Graduates

An associate degree in laboratory technology prepares students to work with a variety of chemicals and equipment to safely perform scientific experiments. These programs can pave the way for higher levels of education after graduation. Laboratory Technicians can generally gain experience in the workplace and move to related positions as laboratory supervisors. A bachelor's degree in chemical science, laboratory management, or a similar field can speed up this process. For this, they must take the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) administered by the Center for Evaluation, Selection and Placement (OSYM).

Transition to Senior Programs

Laboratory Technology Program students can transfer to Laboratory Technology Programs in Vocational Schools in other universities. The students who graduated from the Laboratory Technology Program are enrolled in the Biology and Chemistry Departments of the Faculties of Science, the Bioengineering, Genetics and Bioengineering Departments of the Engineering Faculties, the Nursing Departments of the Health Sciences Faculties, the Nursing and Health Services Departments, the Plant Protection Departments, the Plant Protection and Production Departments, and the Soil Science Department and Plant Nutrition Departments, Agricultural Structures and Irrigation Departments, and Organic Agricultural Management departments of the Agriculture Faculties.
