Barrier-Free Campus Meeting was held at Mustafa Çıkrıkçıoğlu Vocational School

The Barrier-Free Campus meeting, organized to facilitate the education life of disabled students at Mustafa Çıkrıkçıoğlu Vocational School and to find solutions for their needs, was held on October 11, 2024. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Halis Bilgil, Director of the School. Secretary of the School, Aslıhan Erbaş, members of the Barrier-Free Campus Commission and students with disabilities or health problems were also present at the meeting. Delivering the opening speech of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Halis Bilgil stated that they are working with great determination to facilitate the education process of disabled students and minimize the problems they face in campus life. He also stated that they will continue to provide all kinds of support as the Higher School administration in order to continuously improve the opportunities provided by the Barrier-Free Campus Project and to create a more accessible educational environment. The meeting was very productive and the demands and suggestions of the students were discussed in detail. Information was given about the work to be done to solve the physical and academic difficulties expressed by the students, especially finding solutions to accessibility problems on campus, providing easy access to course materials and increasing academic support services.

The members of the Barrier-Free Campus Commission evaluated the current situation and exchanged ideas on future improvements, and determined the steps to be taken to create a more inclusive learning environment. Students also shared their experiences and expectations at the meeting. They especially made suggestions about the physical conditions on campus. At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Halis Bilgil stated that they will closely follow the issues raised by the students and will take the necessary steps to resolve them as soon as possible. In addition, it was stated that such meetings will be organized at the beginning of each semester to measure the satisfaction level of the students and a continuous improvement process will be followed.
